Post Graduate Program

WHAT IS A POST GRADUATE PROGRAM?

The Arizona Saguaros Volleyball Club Post-Graduate program helps student-athletes who were not recruited in high school. Sometimes called a Gap Year for student athletes who take a year off and work on their studies and volleyball skills. Just because you did not get recruited in high school does not mean that you can never play at the college level. There are many factors that contribute to a student athlete making it to the next level.

Our program provides student athletes with a chance to continue their volleyball training with skilled coaches who will help them develop the necessary skills to make that jump into the college level. We often tell parents and players who find themselves in this situation, to begin their college studies and continue their volleyball training until they are ready to attend an open tryout or create a dialog though our recruiting programs.

  • Post-graduates will be trained by our professional coaches who have developed over 67 student athletes who transitioned to the college level.
  • Post-graduates who enter our program have a chance to coach one of our junior teams which keeps them in the game.
  • Post-graduates who graduate HS at age 16-17 still have club volleyball eligibility. Just because they graduated high school doesn’t mean they can no longer play at the club level. You can attend college classes and still play club to obtain that extra year or two of development.
  • They can also join our adult team who participates in local and national USA and AAU Volleyball competitions, giving our post-graduates a chance to get recruited.

WHAT IS A “POST-GRADUATE” YEAR?

A post-graduate, or “PG year” as it is often called, is a full academic year of study generally pursued between graduation from high school and matriculation at a college or university.

WHAT IS THE COST?

If the post-grad player is able to play on a junior team (under 18) the cost will be the same as the current club players. If you are not able to play on a junior team (over 18+), then the cost will be for skills training and physical training only which is $350 per month.

HOW DO STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM A POST-GRADUATE YEAR?

The first thing to understand is (physical maturity) a player might be an early graduate from high school making her 16 and entering the college ranks. For many this transition is very difficult since maturity plays a big role. Maturity in this case is not based on decision making. It is based on the physical development of the player who can handle the rigors of the college level, one year can make a huge difference in that development.

WHAT ARE THE CHANCES MY STUDENT-ATHLETE EARNS A SCHOLARSHIP TO A FOUR-YEAR SCHOOL?

While there is no guarantee of an offer if you enroll in our program, we utilize our recruiting resources that have worked for generations to enhance exposure and college connections for each student-athlete.
