About the Arizona Saguaros

Since 2004, the Arizona Saguaros Volleyball Club has been dedicated to the growth and development of thousands of athletes. Our mission is to provide a professional learning environment for all ages and abilities. In 2025 we will celebrate our 22nd year anniversary as one of Arizona’s most prolific clubs.

As members of the USA, AAU, JVA volleyball, we adhere to the policies that govern those associations, which thrive under the confederation of NORCECA sanctioned by the FIVB. We stay up to date on all national and international volleyball movements and training requirements and strongly support the Clean Sports Act.

Club Values

Core values of Humility, Ambition, Effort, Teamwork and Respect are just as integral to the way we play as winning.

“Mas Que un Club” More Than a Club

“We are more than a club, we are more than a gym full of dreams, we are more than the championships we have won throughout our history.” “We are Family”

Solidarity

We aim for our athletes to acquire social awareness through real-life experiences. The Saguaros Solidarity project is run in close collaboration between the club teams and the Saguaros Super Fans Club. The aim is for the athletes in the club to acquire social sensitivity through real-life experiences, and at the same time for these experiences to generate an emotional help for the users of the organizations with which they interact.

Charity causes will be chosen each season, and various entities with which the club’s athletes will be involved in joint activities. The activities run from November to August, the idea being for the athletes in the club to eventually partake in all of the different experiences as they get older. “Mas Que un Club”

Club Director (Bio)

In 2004 Rosario Lopez launched the Arizona Saguaros Volleyball Club and incorporated the program with the Arizona Incorporation Commission as a 501C3 Non-profit. As an international sports entrepreneur in the futsal world, professional athlete, law enforcement officer and motivational speaker, Rosario Lopez takes his experiences and builds upon his successes to motivate others to achieve their dreams. His straightforward to the point lectures, training and soul-searching ways will help you find what really matters in life and your path to success.

Identity

The Saguaros core values (Identity) must be present in every aspect of our athletes’ training programs. These values are respect, effort, humility, teamwork and ambition. Here at the Saguaros, we believe that values and attitudes are learned and, therefore, must be shared by all the agents that are involved in the training process – athletes, coaches and families -, so that these values and attitudes can forge their personalities.

A core feature of the educational content that is offered is knowledge of the Club, its identity, its history and its professionalism. We are helped in doing this by the Saguaros Super Fans, made up of former players, parents, and benefactors that span decades.

Our challenge is for everyone in our club to know about the landmark events in the history of the Club, such as the first national title earned, who were the players and coaches involved? How many state championships has the club won? who was on the team? When was the club formed? who were the first original players? This is what the Saguaros Identity is all about. It’s knowing more about the Club to be aware of the responsibility of being part of one of the greatest sporting institutions in Arizona.

College Preparatory Program

A true college preparatory academy since 2004, we introduce all athletes to the best systems and physical training programs. We believe that all players no matter the skill level should be trained to their full potential.

Post Graduate Program

Our Post Graduate Program helps student-athletes who were not recruited in high school. Sometimes called a Gap Year for student athletes who take a year off and work on their studies and volleyball skills. Just because you did not get recruited in high school does not mean that you can never play at the college level. Our program provides student athletes with a chance to continue their volleyball training with skilled coaches who will help them develop the necessary skills to make that jump into the college level.

Senior Commitment Program

We believe in our process and system – so much that we offer our Commitment Credit.  This program offers any senior athlete that plays five consecutive years in our program a tuition credit during their senior year.  The credit includes all team fees (not including travel) for the last year (senior year) of the club – we want all players “to finish what they started” and because we believe in our system, we’ll help the player do that.
